The mirage

I walk the path

Faded with time and

The grains of sand

Cling to my soles ,subdued;

Bits of everyday lives scribed

On cobblestone pavements

Always in tow–

And the remnants of your footprints

Whisper through crevices

Of neat asphalt

Incessantly and I yield

In discreet pleasure;

The gravel glistens

In the afternoon sun;

My mouth agape

As a flowing mirage–

Of you;

Begins to blind my eyes.
